Grading, Standardisation & Packing

Bureau Veritas performs independent and accurate testing and inspection services in order to determine the sample’s quality compliance against the contractual requirements.

The quality aspects of goods (such as: organoleptic items, presence of insects, temperature, etc.) are continually checked on the loading conveyor belt during the shipment. If any abnormality is detected, the elevator authorities will be requested to stop the shipment and change the necessary goods. We also carry out a grade determination for each parcel of the agreed quantity (e.g., 500 tons, 2500 tons, etc.) to establish in a preliminary way the quality of the merchandise that is being loaded. The official quality certification will be determined through laboratory analysis.

During the shipment process, quality physical conditions are determined such as hectolitre weight, strange particles, damaged kernels, shrunken and broken kernels, white belly kernels, kernels with coal, chopped kernels and humidity. If any condition is outside the maximum/minimum specified limits, the authorities of the elevator will be requested to stop the shipment and change the goods.

A representative sample of the total shipped goods will be tested in a recognized laboratory in order to determine its quality compliance against the contractual requirements. Additionally, on the buyer’s request, an analysis of each representative sample of the total loaded in each hold can be carried out to determine items such as:

-  Protein Fat
-  Fibre
-  Dry Gluten
-  Wet Gluten
-  Gluten Index
-  Falling Number, etc
